Practical Guide: Tips before traveling to Peru

01
If you are traveling to Cusco (3,400 meters above sea level) or Arequipa, take it easy on your first day. Drink plenty of water, try the coca tea, and avoid heavy meals while you acclimate.

02
Pack light clothes for the heat of Huacachina and Lima, but don't forget a warm coat and trekking shoes for the cold Andean nights in Cusco and Arequipa.

03
Although cards are accepted, carry cash in Peruvian Soles (PEN) for markets, transportation, or tips.
