Oct 30 · Light and memory: cemetery walk
Friday, October 30 · 3:30 p.m. · 3 hours · MXN 400 per person. Walk through Oaxaca’s General Cemetery and Xochimilco Cemetery, where remembrance is part of the Day of the Dead tradition. Includes a hydration kit, snacks and a tour coordinator.

Saturday, October 31 · Departs at 2:00 p.m. · 6 hours · MXN 900 per person. Visit the Jacobo & María Ángeles Alebrije House and fields of cempasúchil, the marigolds associated with Day of the Dead. Includes admission, transportation, a trip coordinator, an open bar and workshop access.

Nov 1 · Flavors of Day of the Dead
Sunday, November 1 · Departs at 4:00 p.m. · 6 hours · MXN 1,300 per person. Make tamales in a local workshop and visit Xoxocotlán Cemetery. Includes transportation, a coordinator, an open bar, ingredients, traditional hot chocolate and bread.

Nov 2 · A farewell to the departed
Monday, November 2 · Departs at 2:00 p.m. · 6 hours · MXN 1,000 per person. Discover Teotitlán del Valle Cemetery, an artisan candle workshop and a traditional mezcal palenque, or distillery. Includes a coordinator, transportation, an open bar during the tour, a mezcal tasting and candle workshop access. Choose a November 3 check-out to join this final experience.

Sunday, October 25 · 2:00 p.m. · Reception. Help us create an ofrenda, a memorial altar honoring loved ones who have passed away. Bring a photograph of a family member or someone dear to you, and share their memory with fellow travelers.

Oct 28 · Paint your calaverita
Wednesday, October 28 · 5:30 p.m. · 2 hours · MXN 250 per person. Decorate your own calaverita, a small decorative skull, while enjoying a mocktail. Includes painting materials, a calaverita to decorate and one mocktail.

Oct 29 · Make your own pan de muerto
Thursday, October 29 · 4:00 p.m. · 2.5 hours · MXN 250 per person. Learn to make pan de muerto, the traditional bread of this celebration, and enjoy hot chocolate afterward. Includes bread ingredients, instructions and guidance, and traditional hot chocolate.

Oct 31 · Rooftop costume party
Saturday, October 31 · 8:00 p.m. · Rooftop · Free entry. Bring your best costume and share an evening of Halloween and Day of the Dead celebrations with fellow travelers. There will be a prize for the best costume.

Nov 1 · Muerteada
Sunday, November 1 · 7:00 p.m. · Rooftop · Free entry. Get closer to Oaxaca’s Day of the Dead traditions through a demonstration filled with music, culture and celebration.

How much do activities cost, and how do I book them?
The calaverita and pan de muerto workshops cost MXN 250 per person. Tours range from MXN 400 to MXN 1,300 per person. The costume party and Muerteada have free entry. Each experience lists what is included. Contact the Viajero Oaxaca team to book activities and confirm availability and the language offered. The booking buttons on this page are for accommodation; workshops and tours are charged separately.

Can I join every activity?
Plan around the schedules. The November 1 tour departs at 4:00 p.m. and lasts 6 hours, so it overlaps with the Muerteada at 7:00 p.m. On October 31, the 6-hour tour starts at 2:00 p.m. and the costume party begins at 8:00 p.m.; ask our team how to plan that day.
