How we contribute to sustainability at each Viajero Hostel destination

Since the opening of each destination where we operate in LATAM, we have researched the environment and restored and conserved the space through sustainable infrastructure, design, and operation.

That's why we focus on three pillars, where small actions positively impact our surroundings.

Eco-efficiency and Climate Change

  1. Reduction of energy consumption
  2. Waste management and circular economy
  3. Water and wastewater management
  4. Reduction of single-use plastic

Sustainable Value Chain

  1. Greenhouse gas emissions
  2. Environmental assessment of suppliers

Biodiversity and Conservation

  1. Sustainable infrastructure and design
  2. Identification, promotion, and care of the destination's biodiversity

How do we do it?

In 70% of our operations, we have water-saving toilets.

At Viajero Santa Marta, we collect rainwater and air conditioning runoff to water plants, which are used for cleaning and other daily purposes.

At Viajero Buenos Aires, we recycle plastic bottle caps from sodas, juices, and aluminum cans to reduce operational waste and contribute to a virtuous circular economy in the city.

The brand Mutan transforms the caps recycled at the hostel into useful and sustainable objects. At the same time, it contributes to improving the quality of life of children through donations to the Garrahan Hospital.

Since 2023, Viajero Bogotá, in collaboration with the District Institute of Tourism and the Glass Museum, has recycled more than 95% of Montemanglar brand bottles, transforming them into approximately 68 recycled glasses.

AllViajero hostels in Peru have water dispensers that allow our travelers to be mindful of their water consumption and reduce single-use plastics.

At Viajero Buenos Aires, we offer boxed water to decrease single-use plastic.
